Using the Human Connectome Project MEG data

Context

The Human Connectome Project (HCP) is a large data collection accessible to the research community. We hold a copy of some of the data at the center.

Information about the project can be found here: https://www.humanconnectome.org/software/hcp-meg-pipelines

Technology

95 MEG subjects recorded while performing 3 tasks:

  • a working memory task (Wrkmem),
  • a language processing task (StoryM),
  • and a motor task (Motort),

a resting state dataset (restin),

with fully processed anatomy pipeline (anatomy) based on structural MRI data.

Pipeline

Here we will detail already performed analyses at the center.

1Downloading HCP dataonline database accessible through a portal, using a dedicated application.Aspera downloadzip files

db.humanconnectome.org

We recommend using Chromium on a linux machine (please add other browsers here as you see fit).

Download did not start when using Firefox on a linux computer (the Aspera software did not start up).

2Unzipping the data to your local folderzip filesany.mat fieldtrip format files, .txt files...Here is a tutorial to do this with MATLAB
3Using the MEG anatomy source space with an atlas.gii surface and label files in HCP's structural pipelineMATLABfieldtrip .matMapping points of the source spaces found in the MEG_anatomy pipeline to an atlas from the MRI structural processing pipline is easy with this tutorial
